FOLSOM, N.J. -- Today, South Jersey Energy Company and GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. announced the formation of AirLogics, LLC to expand marketing efforts of their patent-pending, real-time air monitoring system. The companies also announced a new marketing alliance with the Institute of Gas Technology, a leading energy and environmental research and development group, to help boost product sales within the utility industry. AirLogics targets its marketing efforts on electric and gas utility companies involved in the remediation of former manufactured gas plants.
"This marketing collaboration is very positive because of the high credibility associated with the Institute of Gas Technology in the energy industry," said Edward Graham, president, South Jersey Energy. "By working together we can now expand the product's use in a cost-effective manner to utilities across the country."
The system is used for early detection and warning for potentially hazardous airborne particulates produced by activities on a cleanup site. The system's innovative design monitors air quality on a real-time basis and warns site managers to adjust activities or take protective measures before exceeding air quality standards for human health.
"Traditional air monitoring is often cumbersome and days can pass before actual test results are back from a lab," said Vipul J. Srivastava, IGT's managing director, Biotechnology and Environmental Engineering. "This system provides real-time results giving potentially better protection for people and the environment in the immediate vicinity. This is a major advancement in technology. We're excited to help offer this product to the utility industry."
"The response to this technology is encouraging, said GZA Principal Jim Cleveland. "We have four air monitoring systems operating and expect to start up at an three additional sites soon."
Although now used exclusively by utilities, the real-time air monitoring system is fully capable of being customized for other applications and to detect specific target compounds. Other future applications for the product may include its use at hazardous waste sites, landfills, chemical manufacturing, and mining.
